Oneil Batchelor, a Jamaican-born janitor at Georgetown University, shares his experience when one of the students reached out to him and engaged in a conversation. After a few short minutes, they realized they were both immigrants who sought out the university as an avenue to success. After speaking with Batchelor, the student decided to utilize social media and start a Facebook page called “Unsung Heroes” about the workers of the university, with hopes to break down the barrier between students and the employees. Through the Facebook page, the students were able to raise money for multiple university employees to help start their careers. It all started from one conversation!
