Have you ever heard of Huffington Post, Red Bull, Tesla, or Google? These major companies all have one thing in common...they were started by entrepreneurs who immigrated to the United States. Immigrants are almost twice as likely to become entrepreneurs than natural-born U.S. citizens. Research implies that due to the significant amount of discrimination against immigrants in the employment sector, many of them avoid the problem all together by seeking entrepreneurial careers. Another study details that these leading entrepreneurs have experienced cultural diversity, furthering their encounters with different products as well as fueling creativity. With this in mind, shouldn’t immigration be seen as a gain to our country rather than a threat?
