Shafaq Khan, a high school student who immigrated to the United States from Pakistan, shares her story of the significant impact an immigrant class made on her in school. The course allowed for open conversation about the struggle of immigration and the human race. Our country has, and continues to grow in diversity, but many history and social studies courses don’t go into depth about immigration or the impact it has on our country. It is time to rethink how immigration is taught, and the importance immigration knowledge has for students all over the United States.
